Tabletop Ozonator and Sterilizer
Ozone
and Food Most
of us know to wash our fruits and vegetables before eating. Why? Because
we do not know what may be invisibly hiding on the surface or skin of the food
product. Recently
there was a DATELINE report on TV highlighting the incidence of E-coli showing
up in sealed bags of pre-washed lettuce. With so many people involved in getting
our food to the grocery store shelves, and even in some cases to our kitchen,
contamination is a growing concern. Ozone
is rapidly filling the role of rescuer when it comes to National Food Safety
Technology. Ozone has been approved for use in the nation’s food processing
industry. In 1997, ozone was deemed “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) as
a disinfectant for foods in accordance with US law and the Food and Drug
Administration. Ozone
has long been recognized as a disinfectant for water, first used in a US
drinking water plant in 1940, today it is used by over 200 municipal water
treatment plants from Orlando to Los Angeles. It can kill bacteria much faster
than traditional chlorine. Yet, unlike the long lasting chlorine that can be
harmful to humans, the ozone does its job quickly and then reverts to pure
harmless oxygen, usually in no more than 20 minutes. Chlorine will last for
days, and many municipal water sources have started to use an even a longer
lasting form of chlorine to sanitize drinking water. What’s so bad about that?
It will kill your fish if you put it in your fish tank without insuring complete
elimination of the modified chlorine based product, and since you may drink,
wash foods, and bath in this harmful to human chlorinated water, one might think
that perhaps avoiding contact and ingestion of water laced with this chlorine is
advisable. Ozone
has the ability to kill viruses, parasites, fungi, bacteria- like E.-coli,
and hazardous pathogens such as the chlorine resistant Cryptosporidium,
but that’s not all- it can also neutralize various pesticides and fertilizer
chemicals that may still reside on your fresh foods. It can sanitize water much
faster than chlorine and dissipate on its own within minutes- so no harmful
side-effects. Now, you can use one of nature’s most powerful purifiers in your own home! There are a variety of uses for the Ozonator: Ø Ozonating water for drinking or rinsing- it eliminates the bacteria, heavy metal ions, various organic impurities, while it makes drinking water crystal clear and transparent. Ø Disinfecting toothbrushes, sponges, “dirty” (meaning possibly infected) surfaces in the kitchen or bath. Ø Ozonating foot bath water for treatment of toenail fungus or athlete’s foot. Ø Cleaning fruit and vegetables with Ozonated water can remove farm chemicals, chemical fertilizer, kill exterior bacteria and prolong storage periods 3-10-times longer. Scientists also recommend washing the outer surface of meat, fish and shrimp with Ozonated water to decompose leftover hormones and antibiotics, to get rid of bacteria and pathogenic worms, which will make the meat safe and fresh. Ø Use ozone water to soak and cook rice- making it much more tasty. Ø Clean dinnerware- kill surface bacteria and viruses and prevent the spread of diseases. Ø Wash your face and hands in Ozonated water to moisten skin and to help treat red, dry, scaly skin. Ø Treat your aquarium to prevent and treat fish diseases by eliminating the bacteria, heavy metal ions, various organic compounds, impurities and to add oxygen to the water, thereby improving fish metabolism.
